Mentoring Program

Camp War Eagle is committed to young people and helping them feel successful. Camp War Eagle not only provides fun at summer camp but wants to influence children in a positive way all year long. One of the ways we want to do this is through the Camp War Eagle Mentoring Program. It is our desire to place a qualified mentor with as many of our Camp War Eagle campers as possible. The mentor serves as a trustworthy friend, role model, encourager and advocate. The mentor is not an authority figure but is a steadfast teacher, guide and friend.

What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is providing a role model and positive influence to a person (usually younger) who will benefit from the knowledge and experience of the mentor provider. Young people can benefit from mentoring by being matched with someone (usually an adult) who will spend time with them on a consisten basis. Mentoring has been shown to be an effective intervention when there exists problems in the young person's life. The mentor does not assume that he/she will solve the problems that exist for the young person but will, through careful listening, offer encouragement and support. If you and your camper(s) are interested in the Camp War Eagle Mentoring program, please complete the application paperwork and return all the pages to one of our mentoring program administrative staff (see contact information below).
